My Daddy

This was one of my Dad's
       favorites songs, and
this page is dedicated to him..

Maria Elena
Maria Elena you're the answer to a prayer
Maria Elena can't you see how much I care
To me your voice is like the echo of a sigh
And when you're near my heart
Can't speak above a sigh
Maria Elena say we two will never part
Maria Elena take me to your heart
A love like mine is great enough for two
To share this love is really all I ask of you

My Dad was a wonderful person.. Of
course, he had his faults like
we all do, but he had so much pain
   and strife in his life....
At the age of six he had polio
and his right leg was paralyzed,
and his arms were partially paralyzed.

As a young adult, he broke
his right leg and it all had to
be amputated. Like me, it was some
   more "stuff" in his life.
In 1947 he was in a car accident
and broke his neck in three
places. After the operation, he was
in an iron lung for a time..

Through it all, he remained a wonderful
guy, a great father, and a
loving, kind friend to all.

Dad loved this picture taken of me in
late 1993, and I always loved this
picture taken of him for his 70th
   birthday.....

I'll always remember Daddy's smile

My face upon his knee

His gentle hand upon my head

When I was only three.

I'll always remember Daddy's eyes

They sparkled oh so bright

When he was telling stories

To all us kids at night.

Oh Daddy dear, we love you, oh so much

It's nice to feel your tender, loving touch.

You may not always shown it

But we know you love us so

Oh Daddy, we just want to say we know.

I'll always remember Daddy's voice

When he sang us all a tune

It's soothing, charming melody

Lit up the darkest room.

I'll always remember Daddy's face

So handsome and so fine

His eyes, his smile, will always be

Forever on my mind.

Words and music written by myself for my
               Dad's  80th birthday in August 1991

HE MEANT THE WORLD
TO ME
WHICH IS AS IT SHOULD

You can read more about my
Dad and my life in an
upcoming new page. It is a
